Sustainable Living: Eco-Friendly Practices for Second and Holiday Homes
Eco-consciousness is a vital consideration in all aspects of modern life, at home, at work and when we’re on holiday. We enable owners to embrace the means to make a positive impact in their holiday home. For owners who share their holiday home, there is a further opportunity: to inspire guests to take ideas away for their own homes.
Embrace Smart Home Solutions
Integrating smart home technology can significantly reduce energy consumption and enhance the eco-friendliness of your second home. For example:
• Install energy-efficient lighting systems that automatically adjust brightness based on natural light conditions.
• Programmable and remote thermostats allow you to optimise heating and cooling, ensuring energy is not wasted when your home is unoccupied.
We can even manage this for you if you have Smart Meter installed, just talk to your Property Manager about our Smart Home Supplement package.
By implementing smart home solutions, you not only conserve energy but enjoy a convenient and comfortable experience.
Water conservation tips
Water scarcity is becoming an increasing concern.
Everyone can play a part, and resources like the 'Water Conservation in the Garden' guide from the Soil Association provide valuable insights on how to do so.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we can also support you by installing low-flow showerheads and faucets to minimise water usage without compromising comfort or a rainwater harvesting system.
We can also assist by fitting a silt filter to the rainwater goods system if there is a lot of silt coming through the gutters into the tank. Our maintenance team can check these regularly to assess how often the traps need to be emptied.
These small yet effective gestures can make a significant difference in reducing water waste and promoting responsible water consumption.
Please contact your Property Manager to discuss and implement some of these or other ideas.
