Short breaks: Demand on the Rise?

Short breaks by the coast are becoming increasingly popular

Holiday let owners are under pressure to offer short breaks, from their marketing agents, professional hosts and online travel agents. The trend for the UK holidaymakers revealing itself from 2023 is undeniably that holidaymakers want more ‘bitesize’ breaks than one or two 7-14 night holidays, but owners are cautioned not to be pressured into accepting short bookings unless they’re at a premium.

"The costs associated with a short stay – cleaning, laundry, materials, are no less than for a short break and some costs will be more - wear & tear, extra departure check, extra hot tub clean, and so on. Care needs to be taken to avoid more bookings with lower take-home profit at the end of the season.

"The answer? Accept short breaks, sure, but require a higher nightly booking value to compensate you for the extra cost and consider setting a minimum value per booking. Typically a short break of 4 nights will be sold for 70% value of the full week, by Hosts and marketing Agents who have the owners’ interest at heart.

"One of Pebbles ‘superpowers’ is the capacity to flex to support any and all owner service requirements but for our letting owners, we care to celebrate with you the success and sustainability of your holiday let revenue model.”
