Garden Persnicketies
We love to create outdoor spaces for you and your guest to enjoy, from a small balcony to landscaped garden, low maintenance to designer specification.
For a low maintenance garden, a typical brief may look like the following:
Mow lawns and weed beds.
Keep bind weed under control.
Keep shrubs pruned and in shape.
Ensure Climber does not grow into next door neighbour's garage.
Ensure view of the sea from swing seat is not blocked by tall shrubs.
Extra garden jobs:
Cut front and rear hedges when required at extra cost. Confirm with Owners.
Give estimate for lawn care.
Estimate to replace all wooden borders around beds of top garden.
For luxurious private homes, here is a collection of garden maintenance tasks across a range of beautiful gardens from Seaton in Cornwall to Salcombe in South Devon:
- Keep paths clear of debris.
- Cut lawns – (autumn cutting height: 1.5,” summer cutting height: 1”.
- Check the timer taps in the garden are set up and working correctly.
- Ensure the lawn is fed as it is very shallow and it drains quickly which takes away the nutrients.
- The dead leaves and bits on the banana tree’s need trimming frequently to keep looking neat, cut at the base of the leaf.
- Keep an eye on the new magnolias.
- Keep an eye on whether the garden is looking dry and water more as needed.
- Keep on top of the mulch in the flower beds and top up as needed, make sure it is covering the pipers and water irrigation system so this can’t be seen.
- Sweep away any dirt from the capping stones around the garden so all is clear.
- Keep an eye on the walkways, patios and steps down and around the house – let PM know if they are getting green.
- Jet wash the outside areas twice a year, there are soft sandstone tiles around the lower levels. This protected by a resin so use a low pressure to remove and prevent bird poo stains.
- The succulents on the lower decking need gravel mulch and a good weed, please keep these weed free and remove any dead or slug eaten leaves.
- There are currently bird scarers on the lawns as chafer grubs have become an issue and the birds are damaging the new turf.
- Remove any gravel or debris from the lawns.
- Nematode treatment once a year – refer to designer’s guide.
- All flower beds down the side steps of the house are to be kept in good condition.
- Giant cactus by the front door doesn’t need watering – scrape off the top layer for a smarter appearance.
- The grasses on the balcony off the living room need ad hoc maintenance – access would be through the house.
